An important feature of every Bernardi collection is its distinctive patina. The natural patina that develops on brass or copper over time through oxidation depends on environment and use, ranging from dark brown tones to turquoise-green hues. To give his country-house outdoor lights an "aged" appearance, Bernardi uses a handcraft technique to accelerate the patination of the surfaces. Exactly how this is done is a closely guarded company secret, but the result is always a unique surface that makes the light look as though it has already stood in place for decades.
