An IP65 rating stands for a high level of protection and reliability in outdoor environments. The first digit (6) indicates complete protection against dust and other solid particles, while the second digit (5) indicates protection against water jets from any direction.
Outdoor lights with this rating can therefore withstand not only occasional rain, but also powerful jets of water – for example during heavy rainfall, wet snow or when cleaning a patio with a garden hose.

Classic Outdoor Lights with IP44, IP55 and IP65 Ratings
Classic outdoor lights with IP55, IP65 or higher ratings are relatively uncommon, as traditional and antique-style lights generally do not follow these modern standards – and in many cases do not need to.
Outdoor wall lights, for example, generally only require an IP44 rating. At sheltered installation locations, an even lower IP rating may be sufficient.
