Some manufacturers offer pre-patinated copper outdoor lights, in which special processes – such as pickling combined with controlled humidity and heat – deliberately accelerate the natural oxidation process, so that the characteristic copper patina is already present when the light leaves the workshop, rather than developing naturally over years. The lights are then either sealed with a clear lacquer to slow down further patination, or left untreated to continue weathering naturally.
